White House Historical Association on

The Life and Legacy of Pat Nixon

The White House Historical Association hosted a special program on September 10, 2019 on the Life and Legacy of Pat Nixon, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of her becoming our nation’s 37th First Lady. The event, which was held in Washington, D.C.,  featured an introduction by Nixon Foundation President Hugh Hewitt.

Panelists included Patti Matson, former assistant press secretary for Mrs. Nixon who later spent years as an executive with ABC Television, Anita McBride, former chief of staff to First Lady Laura Bush, and Betty Monkman, former White House Curator. The panel was moderated by Ann Compton, formerly of ABC News.

To accompany this all-star panel, the Richard Nixon Foundation released an all new Online Exhibit about Mrs. Nixon. Tour the Online Exhibit now to learn more about Pat Nixon.
