Nixon Daughters and Chairman Walker Remember Frank Carlucci

Frank Carlucci, the former Defense Secretary who served multiple posts in the Nixon administration early in his career, died June 3, 2018 at age 87.

President and Mrs. Nixon’s daughters Tricia Nixon Cox and Julie Nixon Eisenhower released the following statement:

“Secretary Frank Carlucci distinguished himself as an extraordinarily able public servant for decades.

Mr. Carlucci served our father superbly as, first, the director of the Office of Economic Opportunity and later Undersecretary of Health, Education and Welfare, quickly attaining notice as a capable leader in both roles. His service as National Security Adviser and later Secretary of Defense under President Reagan had pivotal consequences in the final days of the Cold War.

For this —and for his lifetime of dedicated service to his country— he deserves the admiration and thanks of Americans everywhere.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Marcia and Mr. Carlucci’s family during this very sad time.”

Nixon Foundation Chairman Ron Walker and his wife Anne offered remembrances of Secretary Carlucci.

“We send our deepest sympathies to Marcia and her family,” said Ron and Anne. “Frank Carlucci was a great American patriot and leaves a deep void for his countrymen.”

Ron and Anne have fond and tender memories of their friendship with Frank and Marcia Carlucci which spanned over 40 years. Ron remembers working with Marcia on a pioneering program training women for advance work in the White House.
