MEDIA INFORMATION FOR OPENING OF

The New Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum

WHAT:

Media information for October 14th and 15th at the New Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum is as follows:

Friday, October 14:

All media must be credentialed at the designated tent located in the main parking lot of the Nixon Library adjacent to the seating area between 4:00 a.m and 10:00 a.m.

Parking will be available in the main parking lot for satellite trucks only. All other media is to park at the Yorba Linda Friends Church (18637 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, Calif.). Please see the end of this advisory for parking details.

Schedule of events:

9:00 am

VIP Tour of the museum with President and Mrs. Nixon’s daughter Tricia Nixon Cox, Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Former Calif. Gov. Pete Wilson, Archivist of the United States David Ferriero, President Nixon’s grandchildren Christopher Nixon Cox and Melanie Eisenhower.

*Media is encouraged/permitted to cover the tour and interviews with VIPs can be requested through the on-site communications staff.

10:30 am

Special photo opportunity in the Oval Office with Ambassador and Mrs. George L. Argyros.

11:00 am- 12:00 pm

Opening ceremony on the front steps, including speakers and ribbon cutting by VIP attendees. Photo opportunities with Tricia Nixon Cox, Henry Kissinger, Gov. Pete Wilson, David Ferriero, Christopher Nixon Cox and Melanie Eisenhower. Risers will be available for media during the opening ceremony, as well as tight shot opportunities.

12:00 pm – 1:30 pm

East Room conversation with Dr. Henry Kissinger, Ambassador Winston Lord (U.S. Ambassador to the PRC, 1985 to 1989) and KT McFarland (Fox News National Security Analyst). Location: White House East Room Replica.

6:00 pm

Public concert in the Pat Nixon Amphitheater featuring noted Beatles Tribute Band “Liverpool Legends,” an Elvis Presley tribute and a festive fireworks show.

9:00 pm

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library & Museum will close to the public.

Saturday, October 15:

10:00 am- 11:30 am

The Making of the New Nixon Library, featuring the creative geniuses who designed the new museum, from ThinkWell Group (Los Angeles), Cortina Productions (McLean, VA) and The Woo (Los Angeles). Location: Theater 37.

12:00 pm

A Consequential Life: Biographers Evaluate President Nixon’s impact on America and the world.

Location: White House East Room Replica.

PARKING:

MEDIA PARKING: ONSITE PARKING ONLY AVAILABLE FOR SATELLITE TRUCKS ON OCT 14. Satellite trucks should enter at the Mountain View intersection off of Yorba Linda Blvd. All other media can park at the Yorba Linda Friends Church, located at 18637 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, Calif.
