November 17, 2012: At the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., Nixon administration officials discussed the 37th President’s vision to bring self-determination to who he called the “first Americans.” Participants included Robert Anderson, Professor of Law and Director of the Native American Law Center at the University of Washington, and Oneida Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School; Reid Peyton Chambers, Associate Solicitor for Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior under President Nixon; Wally Johnson, Assistant Attorney General for Land and Natural Resources under President Nixon; and Bobbie Kilberg, White House Fellow and Staff Assistant on President Nixon’s Domestic Council responsible for the development of President Nixon’s Indian policy of Self Determination.
